Serving his community is important to Jason Nance. For more than 30 years, he has rocketed B&M Painting into a reputable and successful Prescot area business. He accomplished this through hard work and the realization that giving back to your community pays off. His passion for doing excellent work is a significant part of what motivates him to continue what he does every day with every job.

Q: Jason, what makes you successful at what you do, and what gives you the passion for doing what you do?

Jason: Man, the market drives so much of what I do. When I say that, here is what I mean. When I started, there were certain products that we used and services we performed in the painting industry. My dad has been working in the industry for more than 50 years, so I know it well. There have been many changes to the industry over time. So one of the things that drive me is to continuously understand what the market is doing and then react to that and give the customers what they want. This focus on customers has been a constant driving piece of my work in the painting and remodeling business and my custom bike shop.

Q: But your excellence and community focus are also factors.

Jason: Oh yeah. There are so many jobs that I go on where customers are disappointed with their last paint job or concrete floor or remodel work where the work was rushed. So it didn’t last or was not done precisely right, so the customer has terrible taste in their mouth. Trust is a significant factor and part of my business to help reestablish that trust with customers and get them the high-quality work that they deserve for a reasonable price and allow my business to grow.

Q: That can be a tricky balance.

Jason: Yes, because things are expensive and sometimes it is hard to make money on these projects, but the customers are worth it. Doing great work will always mean that customers will recommend us. Their recommendations mean we can continue to grow in the community we love.

Q: Is this some of what helped you get into community service?

Jason: Yes. I believe that we can give back to our community and take advantage of those opportunities. I help out someone who is disabled or elderly who needs to have their house painted but can’t afford it, twice a year for example. It is just the right thing to do. I can’t help everyone, but I feel like contributing two of these projects a year is good. I hope that other contractors would be willing to step up and help these folks. Many people have a terrible image of contract workers in our industry, and I want to see that opinion change. Painting for those in need is one of the ways that we can do that.

Jason: Yeah, I champion that specific cause in my community where I think that faith and opportunities to help intersect. Over the years, I have supported many different kinds of charities.  Currently, my support of HOPE FEST Arizona has been one of the most rewarding things that I have done.

Q: What is it about HOPE FEST that is different?

Jason: Well, it is faith-based, which is important to me, and it is holistic in that it seeks to help the whole person and not just create a program of help. They care about people and what they are experiencing, and they want to share hope and love with them. I love being a part of it. I think the Festival is so important that have stepped up to help as much as possible. This year the event is on September 11, 2021, which is also the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. I believe in what they are doing, and it is vital to work that continues far beyond the event. That is the kind of thing that I can get into for the sake of my community.

Jason Nance is a shrewd and intelligent businessman, but not because of what he takes from people but because of what he gives. Great work, excellent service, and a great big heart, which has made him successful, and it is what continues to drive him to be better at what he does and step up for this in need.
